The following paper is a preliminary examination of using wind power to provide hot air for space heating using the shaft power of a wind turbine to isentropically compress air. Excluding mechanical losses, 71 percent of the shaft power supplied to a single stage compressor can be converted to internal energy gain, i.e., temperature rise. Approximate economic parameters indicate that such wind space heating systems are more economic than active solar systems when the average heating season available wind energy per collection area is 20 percent higher than that for solar.
