Abstract

If the relationship between electromagnetic parameters and the stress state were characterized by analyzation, it would be helpful to evaluate and classify the flaws in the sample with eddy current thermography (ECT). This paper reported the numerical simulation of the influence of material electromagnetic parameters on the stress state in ECT testing. The influences of conductivity, magnetic permeability, and the thickness of its variation layer on eddy current density and Joule heating have been examined. The results show that the value of electromagnetic parameters and the thickness of its variation layer can be derived from the highest temperature and the distribution of temperature field obtained by using ECT.
