Our research community has benefited from the hard work of all of our Associate Editors and I would like to recognize seven whose terms have ended this year. You and even some of them may not realize that their terms have ended because I have extended some of their terms for a few months while I work with the new Technical Editor to put his team in place.

They are:

Professor David B. Dooner, Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Puerto Rico, Technical Area: Power Transmission and Gearing.

Professor Kemper E. Lewis, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, Technical Area: Design Automation.

Professor Hashem Ashrafiuon, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Villanova University, Technical Area: Mechanisms and Robotics.

Professor Teik Lim, Department of Mechanical, Industrial and Nuclear Engineering, University of Cincinnati, Technical Area: Power Transmission and Gearing.

Professor Shapour Azarm, Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Maryland, Technical Area: Design Automation.

Professor Larry L. Howell, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Brigham Young University, Technical Area: Mechanisms and Robotics.

Professor Thomas R. Chase, Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Minnesota, Technical Area: Mechanisms and Robotics.

As you know our Associate Editors are the face of the Journal of Mechanical Design to our authors, and are trusted by their colleagues to manage the peer review process. The recent recognition of the quality of the Journal of Mechanical Design as among the top 10 Mechanical Engineering journals is the direct result of their dedication.

Please take a moment in the International Design Engineering Technical Conference, which occurs 4–7 September 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada to thank them personally.
