This paper highlights a new, noncontact technique to assess the differences in surface characteristics of components machined by shaping, milling, turning, grinding processes. The method suggested here is a laboratory analysis based on the process of intensity Fourier Transformation taking place on the surface under test. The results are analyzed by using an in-process microprocessor system to evaluate the surface characteristics immediately.
