Abstract
This paper presents a method of analysis of surge conditions in a pumping system by arithmetical integration and is an extension of the work done by Professor Knapp at the California Institute of Technology. The analysis utilizes the step-by-step method, includes the complete characteristics of the pumping equipment, and determines their effect upon surge conditions. The valve characteristics are also included, and this is the first presentation of such a method of analysis.
