Electromechanical mode identification associated with small signal stability problems have been a primary concern in power system planning, operation and control. Prony algorithm is one of the most representative methods for identifying electromechanical mode. This paper discusses the effects of non-linearity and SNR level of multiple input signals on the application of Prony algorithm and corresponding solutions are also introduced. One case with simulated data and one case with practical measured data are investigated. The results show that the proposed scheme can mitigate the negative effects of input signal with varied quality and should be able to benefit electromechanical mode identification.
