Depletion of oil and gas reserve in shallow water depth has accelerated the industry towards deeper waters. The sedimentary basins of Malaysia indicate a great source of energy beneath its sea bed. Increasing demand of oil and gas requires the precise investigation for supplementary data to exert these energies in optimum manner. In this study oil and gas status in Malaysian scenario has been explored. As the wave pattern of deep sea is very vital to be considered for the exploration offshore structures, approaches of collecting wave data have been sightseen. The detail cram on structural configuration, properties, characteristics of compliant floating platform namely spar platform for the drilling, production, processing and storage of ocean deposits is addressed. Rigorous reckoning illustrated that the continental shelf offshore of Malaysian waters is divided into 7 sedimentary basins, out of which 3 basins have major ongoing oil and gas exploration and production activity, namely the Malay basin in West Malaysia off Terengganu and the Sarawak and Sabah basins off the two East Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak. Most of the country's oil reserves are located in the Malay basin and tend to be of high quality. Satellite altimetry is beginning to be accepted as a reliable method to obtain ocean wave data. Spar platform shows itself as very innovative and efficient offshore structures to enhance the function of oil and gas exploration from deep Malaysian sea.
