In the image acquisition and processing system, the design has to satisfy the characteristics of large quantity of data and high speed processing. Using special ASIC or DSP traditional design cannot satisfy the current demands. This paper puts forward a practical method image acquisition and processing system based on FPGA, besides chooses the low cost and high performance Altera Corporation's Cyclone II series EP2C8Q208 as the core, using VGA display as display device and CMOS image sensors (OV6620) as image acquisition device. It has been shown that the system can operate properly and satisfy the demands of large quantity of data and high speed processing.
