This paper proposes an effective method for slap fingerprint segmentation using connected component analysis. First, the gray-scale image scanned from ten-print card is preprocessed with down-sampling and binarization. Then, connected components are found, labeled, analyzed and processed to obtain the candidate fingerprint images for each finger. Finally, each fingerprint image is carefully assigned to its corresponding finger. The experimental results show that proposed method can segment the slap fingerprints effectively and accurately.
