The paper presents the Arlequin Method (AM) based global-local multiscale method for studying problems related to the mechanical behaviour of sandwich composite structures. Numerical simulations are conducted as the preliminary evaluation of the various coupling operators and the discrepancies between local and global models in the gluing zone have been addressed with sufficient care. A new coupling operator is proposed and validated, and a combination of the AM and the Asymptotic Numerical Method (ANM) for studying geometrical nonlinear problems is presented. Compared to other classical solvers (Newton-Raphson Method, Modified Newton-Raphson Method), ANM offers a considerable interest in the computation time and reliability.
