The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) is a next generation electron positron linear collider designed for high precision measurements of physics beyond the Standard Model which is envisaged in the post Large Hadron Collider (LHC) era. One of the main challenges to achieving high precision measurements is the generation of stable electron positron bunches without unwanted satellite trails as commonly encountered with current thermionic gun technologies. A possible alternative technology candidate currently being studied is the use of a multistage (IR, GR, UV) 1.499 GHz class 4 mode locked laser photoinjector system for the generation of clean bunches.
