Abstract
The yield-point pressure is found for the plane-flow problem of a rectangular metal block, set into a rough entrenchment and squashed from above by a flat, smooth die. The pressure is a function of both the block width and depth, and for large ratios of width/depth approaches the linear pressure variation associated with the Prandtl (cycloidal) stress distribution.
