Abstract
Traditionally, cells and tissue samples have been cultured in the static environment of the petri-dish but with recent rapid advances in tissue engineering science there comes the need for dynamic bioreactor environments where cells and tissues can be produced more efficiently, more economically and in greater quantities. To meet these demands, it is necessary to tailor a bioreactor that optimizes both the hydrodynamic environment and the mass transport capabilities that the cells experience.
