Abstract
This paper derives a calculation procedure for sizing a heat exchange accumulator according to the required heat transfer. The model determines all the required diameters and pipe lengths according to the inner coil diameter (which is determined by physical pipe dimensions). The model ensures that refrigerant velocity through the accumulator is the same as the refrigerant velocity maintained in the original system.
