Model for Predicting Temperature Distribution During Medullary Reaming

Prior to placement of medullary nails the marrow cavity often needs to be reamed to a larger size. Measurements of the (potentially damaging) temperatures reported in literature show substantial variation. This paper describes a mathematical model which predicts a temperature profile throughout the bone cortex.
