Abstract
Shear stress induced by blood flow on the arterial wall affect morphology and physiology of endothelial cells. The specific mechanisms alternating shapes and functions have not been identified in endothelial cells, because of the lack of a detailed description of the flow near the cell surface. Although the velocity profiles were numerically calculated (Barbee et al., 1995, Satcher et al., 1992, Yamamoto et al., 1996), experimental verification has not been accomplished.
