Abstract
Biofluids such as blood, as well as other structured materials, exhibit rather complex rheological behavior. In this paper, starting from a first order kinetic model introduced by Soong et al., we developed a constitutive equation and studied its applicability to model biofluids. In particular, we studied the cases of steady shear flow, hysteresis, yield stress and small amplitude oscillatory flow. Model predictions were successfully compared with experimental data on complex materials such as blood and a penicillin suspension.
