Abstract
It long has been known that mechanical forces influence the development of the cardiovascular system, but how these forces interact with genes to shape the heart and blood vessels is poorly understood. Recently, biomechanical models have been used to aid researchers studying the developmental processes of growth, remodeling, and morphogenesis. This paper reviews the biology and models for each of these processes.
