Abstract
A new methodology is presented for the design of spatial vibration absorbers. In general, the design of vibration absorbers has been limited to systems excited by a pure force. These designs cannot handle excitations composed of both a force and a torque. Furthermore, that design requires the absorber to be along the line of action of the force. The proposed design method is more versatile since the location of the absorber is left as a design freedom and it places no restriction on the type of excitation.
