Abstract
A new application of a homogenization method in optimal shape design is presented. Optimum reinforcement of damaged structures is achieved by a simple modification of the approach presented by Bendsøe and Kikuchi [1] for optimum structural shape synthesis. The method is applied to frame structures subject to specific damages.
